Dark Eye Circles

Areas underneath the eyes that are darker than the surrounding skin.

What is it?

These dark circles are located on the skin just below the eyes, creating the appearance of tiredness or fatigue. This area is darkened and may even reveal shades of blue, purple, brown, or black (depending on your natural skin color).  The can be caused by aging, a family history of dark eye circles, fatigue, continually rubbing your eyes, smoking, drinking too much alcohol and stress.

The not-so-fun part about these dark circles is that they can make you look tired or older than you are.  Dark eye circles are not cause for medical concern. But we understand that, for cosmetic reasons, you may want to lighten their appearance. That’s where we can help!

How is it treated?

Treatment options for dark circles under the eyes include medical grade topicals, laser therapy and chemical peels. To smooth hollows under your eyes that create shadows, we can use injectable fillers. Based on your unique skin, a combination of treatments may be most effective.

It all starts with an appointment with one of our experienced providers in Clarkston and Oxford, Michigan.  Our team at Clarkston Dermatology will work with you to determine a treatment plan that is right for you, ensuring you're on track to bid farewell to heavy concealers in no time!
