What is it?

Chemical peels are a gentle yet rapidly impactful way to improve your skin's texture and complexion. The team at Clarkston Dermatology uses chemical peels to safely address a number skin concerns, including acne, fine lines, discoloration and age spots. There is no need to be intimidated by chemical peels. They are derived from natural ingredients and have a 50-year track record of safety and effectiveness.

Your skin is unique, so getting the right peel and having it removed at just the right time are important to maximize results and safety. In other words, the results of your peel are greatly influenced by the proficiency of the provider administering the treatment. We are proud to have highly trained and board-certified providers administering chemical peels at our offices in Clarkston and Oxford, Michigan.

What to expect

Chemical peel treatments can be fairly quick, sometimes only 15 minutes, based on the area treated. The process starts with a deep facial cleansing to prepare your skin for treatment. Our providers then expertly apply your peel and actively monitor the way it interacts with your unique skin. As soon as the ideal results are achieved, your provider removes the chemical peel. Select treatments allow for at-home removal, in which case your provider will give you detailed instructions. For some patients, cold compresses and soothing skincare products may be used after the peel to reduce discomfort.

After your peel, Clarkston Dermatology provides you a personalized at-home care regimen to ensure the best outcome and reduce downtime. Your provider will teach you the optimmal post-treatment routine, when it's safe to apply makeup and how long redness or swelling will last. For medium or deep peels, we may invite you back for a follow-up visit to make sure you get the best result.
