Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure to treat uneven skin tone and texture.

What is it?

As we get older, our skin starts to lose its suppleness, and the production of our collagen and elastin proteins decelerates. This leads to our skin looking dull and becoming more prone to damage, scars, and discoloration.

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive aesthetic treatment that rejuvenates the skin by eliminating dead skin cells and encouraging cell renewal, culminating in a smoother and more glowing skin tone. It enhances the look of skin affected by sun exposure, reducing fine lines and wrinkles to reveal revitalized and radiant skin.

Microdermabrasion is appropriate for both men and women of any age and skin type. It is a popular treatment at Clarkston Dermatology and is available in our Oxford and Clarkston, Michigan locations.

What to expect

Microdermabrasion employs a specialized tool with a rough surface to lightly exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, eliminating dead skin cells. During the procedure, you might experience a sensation similar to your skin being scraped. This is a normal sensation and does not cause pain. The procedure usually takes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated.

Post treatment, your skin might look a tad pink or have a flushed appearance, but this generally fades within a few hours. The result is skin that is smooth, rejuvenated, and radiant. An added bonus is that your skincare products will penetrate your skin more effectively since the dry, dead skin cells have been removed.

You can simply reach out to our dermatology clinic locations in Clarkston and Oxford, Michigan, to schedule an appointment with one of our skincare specialists.

Microdermabrasion treatments work by using tiny crystals to remove the outer layer of dead cells from the skin, replenishing the skin and providing a more youthful appearance. In microdermabrasion, tiny crystals are propelled into the skin using a handheld device that allows an experienced professional from Clarkston Dermatology to carefully remove the dead cells from the surface of the skin.

The cost of microdermabrasion at Clarkston Dermatology depends on the number of sessions you need to see your desired results. To find out your individual cost, please contact us to schedule a free consultation with our expert guides for a tailored treatment plan. We strive to make your treatment as affordable as possible and offer CareCredit® financing for low monthly payments.

Because microdermabrasion can achieve deep exfoliation, you can experience a visible and significant improvement to your overall skin tone and texture after just a single treatment to put your best face forward. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that can address many specific skin care concerns including:Microdermabrasion is an effective and safe solution for patients who are dealing with brown spots, uneven skin tone, wrinkles and fine lines, and even scarring with a straightforward treatment that delivers results in one session. If you have any ongoing conditions such as rosacea, inflammatory acne, or open lesions, then microdermabrasion treatments may not be recommended for you right now. There are a series of alternative treatments available at Clarkston Dermatology. The procedure itself is a non-invasive and performed in a comfortable office setting. Depending on the size of the treatment area, the average microdermabrasion facial shouldn’t take much more than around 20 to 30 minutes to complete. During the procedure, you can expect to feel some slight itching or stinging while the exfoliant microcrystals are run over your skin by your provider, but the experience should be completely pain-free.Immediately following your microdermabrasion session, you should begin to see results and improvements in your skin tone and texture. It will be necessary, though, to return for further treatments after the initial session of microdermabrasion around every one or two weeks. This is to ensure that the results you desire from the treatment are fully met, and to help your skin continue producing new collagen and elastin. To achieve the best possible results from microdermabrasion, it’s recommended that you undergo a series of at least six sessions over a period of a few months, each spaced one or two weeks apart.

We would love to get started on a solution that perfectly fits your needs.
