Broken capillaries, commonly called spider veins, are tiny blood vessels that become enlarged and apparent close to the surface of the skin and may look like a blotch, streak, or web. While spider veins don't cause any side effects or pose any risks, they can be embarrassing, especially on the face.
Laser vein treatment is a non-invasive solution to eliminate or vastly reduce the appearance of facial spider veins. At Clarkston Dermatology, we use Nordlys™ and Diolite® laser technology to safely and effectively treat veins on the face and body. The Candela Nordlys™ Nd:YAG laser improves the appearance of a variety of vascular lesions on the face and body including broken capillaries, varicose veins, port wine stains, and hemangiomas. The Diolite® laser also treats spider veins, broken blood vessels, and other skin imperfections by heating and destroying targeted facial veins.
The cost of vein treatment at Clarkston Dermatology depends on the best laser technology for you, the treatment area, and the number of sessions you need to see the best possible results. To find out your individual cost, please schedule your free consultation at Clarkston Dermatology so our team of licensed professionals can create a custom care plan. To make your treatment as affordable as possible, we offer financing through CareCredit®.The Nordlys™ and Diolite® laser systems work by delivering intense light energy to a very specific site using a handpiece. The light energy is absorbed by the enlarged blood vessels and the pigment in the skin which causes the unwanted cells and facial vein to break down leaving healthy tissue intact. After laser vein treatment, it's important to avoid sun exposure for about a month. Right after treatment, tiny superficial blood vessels may disappear completely but others will develop a "cat scratch" look and then fade gradually over the course of weeks. You may experience some mild swelling for up to two days. Most broken blood vessels only require a single treatment, but some larger vessels may need two treatments.
