Lack of Sun + Vitamin D

Vitamin D is essential to have healthy bones. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) suggests that individuals should obtain an adequate amount of vitamin D through consuming a healthy diet that includes foods that are naturally high in Vitamin D or supplements. It should not be obtained from unprotected UV exposure to sun or indoor/outdoor tanning. These activities are known risk factors for the progression of skin cancer. In fact, there is no known safe level of unprotected sun exposure.
