Below are some facts that will answer any questions you may have about Xeomin®.

What is Xeomin®?

Xeomin® is used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. This treatment will leave you looking younger and feeling better about the look of your skin.

How does Xeomin® work?

Botulinum toxin Type A –the active ingredient in Xeomin®—acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, Xeomin® can temporarily reduce the lines on your forehead between your brows.

Who is eligible for Xeomin® injections?

Do not receive Xeomin® if you are allergic to any of its active ingredients or have ever had an allergic reaction to any botulinum toxin product such as Botox®, Myobloc®, or Dysport®. Anyone that has suffered or suffers from a disease that affects your muscles and nerves such as Lou-Gehrig’s disease or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome should not use you may be at an increased risk of serious side effects. Also let your doctor know if you’re pregnant, plan to become pregnant, breastfeed, or plan to breastfeed.

Is Xeomin® safe? What are the risks?

Xeomin® may cause some initial discomfort during treatment that can continue in the days following treatment. Our doctors here at Clarkston Dermatology will be sure to make your treatment as comfortable and pain-free as possible. As is the case with any dermatological treatment, you may experience side effects, with some of the most common side effects including temporary injection site reactions such as:

  • Bruising
  • Itching
  • Rash
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Wheezing
  • Asthma Symptoms
  • Dizziness
  • Feeling Faint

As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection in the treated area. If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, or any abnormal sensations or effects, be sure to call us as soon as possible so that we may help you during your recovery period.

Are the results of Xeomin® permanent?

The results from Xeomin® are temporary, lasting anywhere from 3 to 6 months with correct treatment. Touch-up injections and repeat injections are often needed to maintain the desired results. Less material is usually needed with repeat injections. Many people turn to Xeomin® because of the ease with which touch-ups can freshen their appearance affordably and quickly. One can typically expect to see results within one week of getting this treatment. Results however may vary from patient to patients.

Why choose Xeomin®?

What sets Xeomin® apart from the rest of the wrinkle relaxers is that it is made through a state-of-the-art manufacturing process that removes the ‘accessory proteins” that don’t play an active role in the treatment. This creates the highly purified neurotoxin that we use to make your skin look young and radiant!

How much does Xeomin® cost?

The cost of Xeomin® at Clarkston Dermatology can vary depending on the treatment area and the severity of the wrinkles in that area. The amount of wrinkle relaxer needed will be determined by the depth of the wrinkles, size of the treatment area, and correction desired.
