Wrinkle Relaxers

What are Wrinkle Relaxers?

Wrinkle relaxers are the perfect solution for your aging skin. If you’re struggling with the frown lines we all experience in time, our treatments will provide the help that you need with little downtime. The most common areas in need of wrinkle relaxers are the brow, forehead, around the eyes, the lips, and around the nose. These treatments will reduce unwanted wrinkles, helping to create a smoother, more youthful appearance. Wrinkle relaxers can also be used to lift the corners of the mouth, create a less “gummy” smile and alleviate TMJ symptoms. The experienced clinicians at Clarkston Dermatology can customize a treatment for your specific needs.

Who is eligible for this treatment? When should I receive treatment?

Wrinkle relaxers are a viable solution for most people, and all skin types are eligible for this type of treatment. Wrinkle relaxers are not recommended for pregnant women. Although this treatment is open to people with varying skin concerns, the best results will be seen for those with early signs of aging skin. Patients should have realistic expectations for their results and should also be committed to taking care of their skin both following treatment and before any future treatments.

Is it safe? What are the risks?

At Clarkston Dermatology our patients’ health is our highest priority. We want to make sure our patient is safe while providing them with their desired results. During treatment it is very common to feel slight discomfort, similar to a small pinch. This unpleasant sensation will be temporary – keep your mind on the results and we’ll be saying ‘done’ in no time! As is the case for almost any treatment, you may experience one or more side effects, with the most common reactions including:

  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Pain at the Injection Site
  • Infection
  • Inflammation
  • Erythema (Redness/Flushing) (temporary, less common side effect)
  • Ptosis (drooping of the eyelid) (temporary, less common side effect)
  • Asymmetries in the face (temporary, less common side effect)

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, be sure to call us as soon as possible so that we may help you during your recovery period.

Are the results permanent?

Although we often wish it were true, wrinkle relaxers are not permanent. They do, however, last quite a long time, and you’ll see results within 2 weeks after treatment. Depending on the wrinkle relaxer being used, your results can last anywhere from 3 to 6 months.

Wrinkle relaxers are an important part of an anti-aging regimen. When combined with a customized home skin care regimen, fillers, selected laser procedures and office treatment, we can help you look your very best and reverse the visible signs of aging.

How much do wrinkle relaxer injections cost?

The cost of wrinkle relaxers at Clarkston Dermatology can vary depending on the type of injection that we will recommend to you based on your medical history and skin type, as well as the treatment area and strength of the muscles.

Where should I get Wrinkle Relaxer injections in Michigan?

Clarkston Dermatology is among Michigan’s most trusted dermatological offices, and your source for safe and professional wrinkle relaxer treatments in Michigan. We offer a number of different treatments to combat those stubborn crow’s feet and frown lines in order to give you the youthful appearance you desire. Commonly referred to by their brand names, we offer BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, and XEOMIN® to take care of those wrinkles for you in no time. Our wrinkle relaxer treatments are injections, but are not painful, allowing you to immediately return to your daily routine. You can expect to experience slight discomfort during treatment, and sometimes in the hours following treatment, but most patients find wrinkle relaxers to be a “lunchtime procedure” after which they dive right back into their day.

For more information about our wrinkle relaxer procedures or to set up a consultation, give us a call at 248-620-3376. We will be glad to answer your questions and help you find the right wrinkle relaxer for your unique needs.
